Bridal Gown Styles: Empire Waist

by Lotoya Vongrechin on May 9, 2012

Known for its unique raised waistline, the empire waist wedding gowns flatter any body type.  The silhouette is created from a contoured bodice that stops just below the bust, from which the skirt flows down.  This style can enhance the bust of a slim and or petite bride looking to create a fuller illusion, as well as provide coverage for larger bust brides.  Very forgiving to the lower half of the body, this dress is ideal for pear shaped, full figured and expecting brides.

Perfect for a beach, casual or formal style wedding, the dress lends itself to various fabrics from free flowing silks, to embroidered lace to duchess satin.  Choose from many bodice styles ranging from strapless to single shoulder to sweetheart and square necklines.   With or without a short train, empire waists are romantic and classic.

You deserve to look fabulous on your wedding day, choose the silhouette that is most flattering and makes you feel beautiful.  This concludes our wedding dress styles series, up next bridal party attire.
