Bridal Gowns: Amazing A-Lines

by Lotoya Vongrechin on March 28, 2012

As the one-shape-fits-all silhouette, the A-line is truly amazing. Featuring a fitted bodice and a skirt that glides over the hips, it creates the illusion of a teeny waist and hides figure flaws under the flowing skirt. Slim-shaped, full-figured and pear-shaped brides all appear with feminine curves. Options abound for embellishing this simple silhouette, from a romantic sweetheart neckline to a playful gathered skirt to a long-sleeved lace bodice, as shown in the beautiful images in the inspiration board. This shape also lends itself well to a variety of lengths from above-the-knee to mid-calf (also known as “tea length”) to floor-length, with or without a train.

When you begin shopping for your bridal gown, I encourage you to go with an open mind and try on every dress style. Take notes on what looks best and why. This will help you narrow down your choices. At your next appointment, focus your energy on trying on only the styles you know will be the most flattering so you will be that much closer to saying “Yes!” to the dress.

Be sure to read all the posts in our finding the perfect dress series for tips on what will work for your body type. Last week we featured “Stunning Sheaths”; up next week, “Thrilling Trumpets.” You deserve the best on your wedding day, and I hope we can help you find the dress that makes you feel beautiful.
